Video Relay Service (VRS) allows hearing and deaf people to communicate through the phone via a live interpreter. When a hearing person initiates the call, they are connected with a live sign language interpreter. The interpreter will call the deaf person via a video connection through the internet. When the deaf person answers, the interpreter will proceed to interpret the conversation between the deaf and hearing individuals.

The service is completely free and is subsidized by the US Government.

To call a deaf or hard-of-hearing person:

1) Dial 1-866-361-6963.

2) When the interpreter answers, give the interpreter the deaf person's phone number and conversate like normal!
